Gochar and Sade Sati: Truth vs Fear
17 October 2026 · VedicDost
Gochar (transit) means where the planets are moving in the sky today, read against your fixed birth chart. Moon changes sign in about two and a quarter days, the Sun in a month, Jupiter in about a year, Rahu and Ketu in about a year and a half, and Saturn in about two and a half years, so fast planets colour the daily mood while slow ones set the long background. Tradition counts transits from your Moon sign. The transit chapter of the Phaladeepika lists favourable places for each planet, for example the 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th from the Moon for Jupiter, and the 3rd, 6th and 11th for Saturn.
Sade Sati is the roughly seven and a half years in which Saturn passes through the 12th, 1st and 2nd signs from your Moon sign; Dhaiya is Saturn in the 4th or 8th. Because Saturn takes about thirty years to go round the zodiac, most long lives see it two or three times, so it is a common, recurring cycle, not a special calamity. Honestly, the old texts we studied page by page have no separate chapter under the name Sade Sati; it is a later tradition. Saturn is the planet of discipline and duty, so it often brings heavier responsibility and slower results, but the effect depends on your Moon sign, Saturn's condition in your chart, the dasha running and your own preparation.
