Seeing the Indian Roller (Neelkanth) — What the Texts and Tradition Say
According to Brihat Samhita, sighting the Indian roller (neelkanth) signals success for a traveller; folk custom prizes seeing it on Dussehra.
Flying on the right with an insect in its beak, it hints at quick gain.
Its 'kra-kra' call isn't lucky in the Samhita, but the sighting is.
Brihat Samhita's general rule reverses omens for women; no separate rule is given for this one.
